The anchor remote control stopped working due to what appeared to be normal wear and tear after long-term use. There is no evidence that the damage was caused by our crew, and we are not aware of any action or negligence on our part that could have led to this failure.
Despite this, we were charged for the replacement. In our opinion, this type of equipment failure should be covered by the company's maintenance budget or by the very substantial transit log fee (€430), which should reasonably include routine maintenance and replacement of worn equipment.
We fully understand that customers should pay for damage they actually cause. However, charging guests for the failure of equipment that simply reaches the end of its service life is, in our view, unfair and inconsistent with good customer service.
Unfortunately, this experience left us with the impression that the company transfers normal operating and maintenance costs onto its customers. For this reason, we cannot recommend Helm Yachting.
