点评：Been meaning for a long time to check out the Vaal river from Vereeniging to the Barrage where we used to visit when I was a lot younger. The houseboat seemed an ideal way to do it for a couple of days and it worked well - we puttered up as far as the Riviera Hotel in Vereeniging and down to Bird Island near the barrage then back to Old Willow to return the boat. Stopped off at Stonehaven for a good lunch but otherwise self-catered. Tied up in reed beds on the two night, quiet and undisturbed (well, apart from a security patrol on the river one evening, which just shone a light to see who we were). Sunny and warm in the day tho the evenings were cold but were warm enough once tucked in under the quilt provided. And the houseboat is very well appointed. Athough it might be a tight squeeze for 4 adults, it was fine for us, with all we needed for meals etc. Of course, it helped that we chose the right weather for the trip and went Monday to Wednesday, which is a quiet time on the river.
