Tour of Lancaster and Vulcan was brilliant.

点评：What a lovely surprise it was for us as a family. For a mother's day treat, I wanted to travel over from Chester back to my old home town of Stockport, and this came up on my Trip Advisor Research. It was well worth the visit.
It is a small museum, with a lot of reading, and if, like me, you didn't already have an interest or fasincation with airplanes, it might seem a little overwhelming at first. However, I learned enough from skim reading to get an understanding of how important this place had been when it was an airfield and airplane factory from the early 20th Century. It was a hugely important contributer to the air war effort in both world wars and you will learn much about air plane design just from looking at the photos and models alone. As you wander around, you can look up and see life sized models of examples of some of the aircraft that were significant in the history of AVRO.
The highlight was the expertise provided to us by ex RAF men and volunteers, who gave us tours of various craft interiors. You pay extra for these tours, but only by a few pounds on top of your general entry ticket , and they are definitely worth it. The aircraft interiors are so tight, you can only take a tour with 3 or 4 people - a family.
This was a unique part of the experience. Crammed into a Lancaster or a Vulcan - with the chance to sit in the cockpit, or to imagine you are a radio operator, a navigator, or the person who presses the release button for a bomb - it is certainly an illuminating experience.
I have to mention also that all the staff here were so chatty and friendly - from the lady at the front desk to the ladies in the cafe upstairs. Overall it was a really lovely experience.
