点评：I have a passion for antebellum houses, a trademark of the Old South. You'd know what I mean if you have ever visited Vicksburg or Natchez or St. Francisville or Roslyn.
But that's not all. Take Cherry Mansion, for example. Located at 235 West Main Street in Savannah, Tennessee, on a bluff overlooking the east bank of the Tennessee River, it is a white Georgian building with a two-level porch on its west front, facing the river. Built in 1829, it sits atop the site of a palisaded prehistoric settlement established about 2,000 years ago. More recently, it was Union General Ulysses S. Grant' headquarters during the Battle of Shiloh in 1862. Two Union generals, C.F. Smith and W.H.L. Wallace, died in the house in the aftermath of the battle. According to accounts of the Cherry family, which owned the house until 1935, Grant and his staff had just sat down at the breakfast table on April 6, 1862, when they heard cannon fire indicating that a battle had begun about seven miles up the river. Leaving their meals uneaten, they boarded a steamboat at the landing below the house to travel to Shiloh Landing. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
