No Flight, No Problem: The Views at Torrey Pines Gliderport Still Took Us Sky-High!

点评：I love a good thrill, so while visiting San Diego, my partner took me to Torrey Pines Gliderport for a little adventure. Reservations are not required because flights are weather-dependent, though you can call ahead if you prefer. We arrived in the afternoon, only to find that all the tandem instructors were booked for the rest of the day. My dreams of soaring over the cliffs had to wait—but the view more than made up for it.
We grabbed a drink at the small eatery and lived vicariously through everyone who got to glide through the sky. Watching paragliders float above the cliffs and beach was almost as exciting as doing it ourselves… almost.
You can also take a 30- to 40 minute hike down the cliffs to the beach below, but we chose to stay up top, stroll around, and take in the breathtaking scenery. The cliffs, ocean, beach, gliders, and sunset created one of the most beautiful views we experienced in San Diego.
The one drawback: there are no accessible restrooms on-site, only portable toilets. So plan accordingly before settling in for sunset.
Torrey Pines Gliderport is absolutely worth visiting. Come for the thrill, stay for the views, and try not to be too jealous of the people floating through the sky.
