I purchased two items at the Tommy Hilfiger store (Dressup Group) in Batumi and paid 1,019 GEL in full. At no point — before or during the transaction — was I informed, verbally or in writing, that these items were "final sale, exchange only." This restriction only appeared printed on the receipt after payment was already processed.
When I raised this, the store pointed me to a policy notice at the register — written entirely in Georgian, in small dense text, with no translation and no requirement that customers read or acknowledge it before paying. As a foreign customer, I had no way to understand or even notice this notice before handing over my money. When I asked whether the store's policy had been formally approved by Georgia's Consumer Protection Agency (as staff initially claimed), they later admitted the Agency does not issue such approvals — directly contradicting what I was told.
This is the same undisclosed no-return policy across all Dressup Group stores in Georgia. It's a policy structured in a way that foreign tourists and customers, who make up a large share of shoppers here, have no real chance of understanding before they buy.
If you don't read Georgian, ask explicitly, in writing, whether your purchase is final sale before you pay — because the store will not tell you, and the receipt will only tell you after it's too late.
I'm sharing this so other customers don't end up in the same situation.
