Blew away our expectations—a must-do family experience under the Sequoia night sky!

点评：We came into the Sequoia Stargazing tour with modest expectations, but it ended up being one of the absolute highlights of our trip.
Our naturalist guide was outstanding—passionate, deeply knowledgeable, and wonderfully engaging with both adults and kids. Rather than just pointing out random stars, they taught us how to actually navigate the night sky. Being able to spot major constellations, look up at the breathtaking arch of the Milky Way, and catch meteors streaking across the sky was magical. Our child was thoroughly hooked and excited the entire hour.
A few "know before you go" tips:
1. Arrival & Walk: The lobby area is warm and clean to gather in before the tour begins. From the lobby, there is a short 5-minute walk/hike to reach the open parking lot viewing area.
2. Ground setup & why you lie down: Standing and craning your neck upward for an entire hour would be exhausting, so the group lies down on the asphalt to gaze straight up comfortably. Definitely bring a thick blanket, foam pad, or camping mat to keep warm and comfortable on the paved ground.
3. Dress very warmly: Temperatures drop rapidly at night in the mountains. Bring heavy jackets, beanies, and layers.
4. Optics: Bring stargazing binoculars if you have them for a closer look at star clusters, though the naked-eye view is spectacular on its own.
5. Kid-friendly: The guide made the astronomy concepts easy and fun to grasp, making it a great event for children.
Knowing that the ticket proceeds go toward the Sequoia Parks Conservancy to protect these parks makes it even more rewarding. Highly recommend!
