点评：I’m very thankful I chose to visit the Chiang Mai Elephant Sanctuary after talking to so many different tour companies promising the world as nothing more than middle-person booking agencies taking their cut of higher costs. I first stopped by the home office and spoke with the owner Kate, and later booked the half day afternoon adventure through their website with secure cc payment. While most agencies cap tour group sizes at 20, here promises 10-12 and ours was even much smaller making for a very intimate experience with the elephants while feeding, bathing them in a large pool, and later rubbing them down with mud. I opted to skip the waterfall trek and sat with a couple of watchmen while the elephants continued to forage nearby. Chiang Mai Elephant Sanctuary was created in 2003 and claims to be the original. Regardless, it’s easy to see why other places are trying to pass themselves off as this sanctuary (yes!) so travelers beware! I would gladly return to Chiang Mai Elephant Sanctuary again and again, hoping to spend even more time with the elephants and hospitable staff. * All tour groups have photos posted on their Facebook page while staff is also on hand to take photos and videos with guests' devices.
