“Greedy Practices Are Killing Tourism in Albania“

点评：When I arrived, an employee first informed me that I had to pay for parking. I accepted this charge and was prepared to pay it.
However, I then explained that I wanted to stay on the beach using my own towel and sit directly on the sand/rocks. I did not want to use a sunbed or umbrella.
The employee told me that I could not stay there because it was a “private beach” and that I had to pay to use one of their sunbeds.
After I questioned this and explained that I did not want to use their sunbeds, the employee called the owner/manager, together with another employee. The three of them then approached me together. Their manner and the situation made me feel intimidated and pressured to leave.
I was not asking to use their sunbeds, umbrellas, or any other paid service. I simply wanted to sit on the beach with my own towel.
Because of the additional demand and the way the situation developed, I did not pay the parking fee either and decided to leave the beach.
I find this treatment extremely disappointing and concerning. As a tourist visiting Albania, I came to enjoy its beautiful coastline, not to be told that I cannot sit on the beach unless I purchase a private service.
If this is a public beach, I would like the authorities to clarify how an operator can claim that it is a “private beach” and prevent visitors from sitting on the beach without renting a sunbed. If the area is legally designated for private use, I would also like to know the legal basis and the conditions under which the operator is permitted to restrict access.
I am particularly concerned about the way the situation was handled after I questioned the demand. Having the owner/manager and another employee come over together made me feel intimidated as a tourist and was completely unnecessary.
Practices like this are killing tourism. Visitors who experience this kind of treatment may leave with a very negative impression of Albania and may choose not to return or recommend the country to others.
I respectfully request that the competent authorities investigate this situation and verify whether the operator’s practices comply with Albanian law and regulations concerning public beach access and beach concessions.
