点评：It was about an 8-minute walk for us from our hotel. We had booked a 75-minute behind-the-scenes Kentucky Peerless distiller tour three weeks in advance. As it turned out, there was no need to make a reservation; we were the only ones on it. The cost was $32 for an Adult (ages 21+) and $20 for a Veteran. Disappointingly, they do not offer a discount for adults who do not drink or are designated drivers.
Although they recommend arriving 10 to 15 minutes before the tour, we arrived just five minutes before our scheduled time. They did not start the tour until about 10 minutes after the scheduled time, presumably hoping more people would show up.
While on the tour, we learned about the history of the company, which originally started in Henderson, Kentucky, back in 1889. We even met Corky Taylor, the great-grandson of the original owner, Henry Kraver. Corky and his son, Carson, reopened the business in downtown Louisville in 2015. We also learned about the company's historically significant Distilled Spirits Plant permit number, DSP-KY-50, which was originally granted in 1889. The best part of the tour was the rye whiskey and bourbon tasting at the end. Because they don not have a bar on the property, the tour is the only way to taste their products at the distillery.
