Great Smoky Mountains Railroad的点评
点评：I was super excited to hear about the Freedom Train that ran during the evening of July 4. We had a part of 2 adults and 4 teens. We picked up our BBQ Sandwich meals from the windows to eat as our dinner on the train. We went to our boarding area a half hour as instructed before our departure time. I had chosen the coach class because tickets were six people it's kind of pricey. I wished I had chose a different one because even with small windows that open and ceiling fans, it was completely miserable, weather wise,even at 7:00 p.m. By the time they loaded us and we sat down to eat, the food was cold and the waters were hot. About 45 minutes into the trip, I realized they had a cafe car that you could purchase cold drinks. They also have people passing through trying to sell souvenirs and photos, and a banjo player playing for tips.
I knew going in it was a two hour, non-stop trip. Our particular ride went literally one hour down the train tracks and was put in reverse to head back toward town. The process to get it in reverse was about 15 minutes and it was sweltering hot while sitting still. The views of Fontana Lake were nice but that was about all I could see since I wasn't a window seat. If we ever decided to take the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad train again we would definitely go in fall or winter and a different class of car.
