A hidden, untouched gem, bring good shoes and low expectations of company
The Deserted Village of Port的点评
点评:We visited A Port as a family and it completely stayed with us. It's a bit of a mission to get to, a long single-track road with sheep wandering across it, but that's exactly what keeps it so unspoiled.
When you arrive there's almost nothing there: a scatter of roofless stone cottages, a small quay, and sea stacks rising straight out of the water. It's silent apart from the waves, sheep and the birds.
It's not a "sight" in the conventional sense, no café, no signage, no facilities, so go in with the right mindset. It's more about the atmosphere: raw, remote, slightly eerie in the best way, and completely different from anywhere else we visited in Donegal. We just stood there taking it in for a good while.
Would recommend for anyone who wants proper wild coastline without the crowds. Just be aware of the road in, and take care near the cliffs.
