We paid £7 to park for three hours and, quite reasonably, presumed that parking near the pier might include access to the pier itself. Apparently not. Walking onto the pier is an additional £2.30 per person — and there were five of us. For what exactly? There’s very little on the pier, so we decided it really wasn’t worth another £11.50 on top of the already rather hefty parking charge.
Unfortunately, the experience was made considerably less pleasant by the older man and woman on the gate, who were unfriendly and unnecessarily disagreeable. Having decided not to pay to go onto the pier, we returned to the car a few times to drop things off. Each time, we were accosted and reminded that we had to pay to access the pier. We had understood the pricing perfectly well the first time!
We also witnessed them speaking to a family with a woman in a wheelchair. The family asked whether the charge was £2.30 per person. The woman on the gate replied that it was — but that “wheelchairs were free”. I’m still not entirely sure whether the implication was that the person in the wheelchair no longer counted as a person, or whether the chair itself was free. Either way, it was an unfortunate choice of words.
Perhaps the pier is worth visiting if you particularly want to walk along it, but for us, £7 to park plus £2.30 each to walk onto a fairly unremarkable pier was a hard pass.
Save yourself the extortionate parking charge, the additional admission fee and, frankly, the repeated accosting — park on the road instead.

如果你特别想沿着码头散步，或许值得一去；但对我们来说，7英镑的停车费再加上2英镑的费用……花30美元去走上一个平淡无奇的码头，实在不值得。
省下那高昂的停车费、额外的入场费，还有那些没完没了的搭讪吧——干脆把车停在路边好了。
