点评：I wasn’t sure about the Western Spirit museum in Scottsdale’s downtown. It was rather expensive as museums go, but am glad I did visit. It is part art museum, part craft museum, and part historical museum. It is best to get there before the top of the hour and start with the short film (usually at 10, 11, 12, 1, and 2) then join the guided tour that follows the film. Each tour is different: if you take the 10:20 am tour, it gives you a short break and then you can take the 11:20 am tour which will be different.
The docents are excellent and I learned a lot that I would have missed viewing the museum on my own. The exhibit of film posters chronicling the evolution of the Western film after the social consciousness of the late 1960s was particularly illuminating. The website should detail which tours are when, and the museum’s hours during the year. On a hot day, you can park underground and take the elevator up to street level. There is also street level parking.
If you take some guided tours, allow about 3 hours, but you could spend more time if you prefer more leisurely viewing. You are allowed to exit the museum and come back after lunch or a break.
