Christmas Island - A wonderFULL destination, FULL of wonder!
Christmas Island Visitor Centre的点评
点评：Our first trip to CI will certainly not be our last! Already planning our return trip for next year. People, scenery, flora & fauna were fabulous, as low key birders we were exceptionally happy with the 20 species we photographed & observed.
Visitors centre were very helpful & friendly.
Margaret Knoll Lookout was exceptional, visited a couple of times and spent several pleasurable hours there.
Rumah Tinggi was exceptional, service & food.
After just 2 days I was inspired to compose this poem:-
Christmas Island
@ 10 degrees south humid and hot,
Our cliff top ocean view is a top spot.
Red-tailed Tropicbirds prolifically fly around,
Just out front several nest on the ground.
White Eyes chirping and busily groom,
A curious Thrush right outside our room.
Fleets of Frigatebirds circle high above,
Endemic Imperial Pigeon like a fat handsome dove .
Squawking Kestrels atop a tower frequently mate,
Glowing Golden Bosunbirds my breath they do take.
Endangered Emerald Doves for food do scout,
Tiny Glossy Swiflets hunt insects darting about.
On the beach a Common Noddy ingesting coral,
Nesting Brown Boobys appear to quarrel.
An elegant Egret on sharp rocks does look,
All over Christmas Island you see feral chook.
These are some sightings in just two days,
Many many more species are here to gaze.

一只好奇的画眉就在我们房间外面。
成群的军舰鸟在高空盘旋，
特有的帝王鸽，像一只肥美的鸽子。
鸣叫的红隼在塔顶频繁交配，
金光闪闪的太阳鸟令人屏息。
濒危的翠绿鸠四处觅食，
娇小的金丝燕捕食四处飞舞的昆虫。
沙滩上，一只普通燕鸥正在吞食珊瑚，
筑巢的褐鲣鸟似乎在争吵。
一只优雅的白鹭在嶙峋的岩石上眺望，
圣诞岛到处可见野鸡。
这些只是两天内的一些景象，
这里还有更多物种等待着我们去观赏。
