点评：The Mount John Observatory is located just a short drive from Lake Tekapo Village, and offers some of the most spectacular views in the area. I visited during the day, and the panoramic views of Lake Tekapo, the surrounding mountains, and the McKenzie basin were absolutely breathtaking. There is a $14 admission fee to drive up to the observatory area, and visitors should be aware that the access road closes at 4 PM unless you have booked one of the stargazing tours. Be sure to plan accordingly. There is also a café at the top, which is convenient if you’d like to grab a snack or drink while enjoying the scenery I ordered a savory biscuit, which was just average and I was surprised to learn they did not offer complementary water. You have to purchase bottled water if you want some.Despite those minor drawbacks, the views are truly the star of the experience. For anyone visiting Lake Tekapo, I would highly recommend making the trip to the top. The scenery alone makes it worthwhile.
