Sort of interesting but not a major highlight of the Tour
Distillerie Depaz的点评
点评：Saturday 7th February we visited this rum distillery as part of an organised tour.
It is located in a picturesque setting at the foot of Mount Pelée and has been in production since 1651.
Before going to see the Distillery we had a short walk around the impressive grounds. While walking around we saw the very grand Chateau Depaz, which was built in 1922.
It is possible to pay to visit the Chateau, Plantation House, we did not as it was not included in our tour.
We were also saw a small part of the vast 400-hectare sugar cane estate and a working plantation.
The were some old used machinery bits and artefacts, from the Distillery, dotted around the grounds on display.
Our Guide led us to the Distillery, where the most striking feature was the large water wheel.
From there we moved to a large warehouse like building where the rum production process was explained. We saw some copper vats, distillation chambers and other vessels used in the brewing process includingthe steam engine. There were numerous information boards, in French and English, around the vessels which gave us the same information as our Guide.
We then were led into the shopping area where we could try various rums and make some purchases.
