点评:I spent a night solo tent camping at this state park. I was very glad to have read a few reviews before I got there, so I am posting my own in the hope it will also help a fellow camper.
Unlike other campgrounds I've been to, this one is more like an "RV Park." There is no privacy between the campsites. Everyone camps alongside each other in either a wide-open field (e.g. the "Gypsy Circle" has flat sites and no shade), or under tree cover, but set on a hillside (e.g., "The Horseshoe Circle"). Honestly, I don't know how anyone can sleep on an incline, but that is what you get at a lot of their sites.
I stayed at site #63 in the Gypsy Circle. On a hot afternoon, I had to sit in the shade of my tent or car. It was not terribly crowded, so I enjoyed my stay. I can see how it might be loud or annoying if every site were full.
The state park says it features a "beach" but I did not dare go near the water. It is just a pond, full of muck and scum. It did not look very clean or pleasant for swimming.
The hiking trails that begin and end at the campground are nice. After waking up and cooking some b'fast, I set off for a 1 mile loop, ascending via the "Blue" trail and descending via the "Red" trail. It took me about an hour and was very enjoyable, moderately strenuous, and provided a great view overlooking both the campground and park.
The bathrooms and showers were clean and basic, as advertised. The staff were all incredibly friendly and omnipresent. It was nice to see them regularly patrolling the entire campsite on a golf cart, checking that everything was AOK for the guests. (Note, they have a strict "no alcohol" and "no pet" policy, however I did see folks walking dogs on leashes)
Would I return? Probably not. I prefer more seclusion and peace-and-quiet. But for passing through, it was a decent place to camp and hike before getting back on the road.
