Spectacular Alpine Views Without the Hike

点评：Hoher Kasten is a scenic mountain in the Appenzell Alps of northeastern Switzerland, rising to 1,794 metres. It is above the village of Brülisau and is one of the most accessible mountain viewpoints in the Appenzell region.
A cable car from Brülisau took us up in roughly 7-8 minutes, to me it was an excellent choice to have spectacular Alpine scenery without spending much time a strenuous walk.
At the summit, there is a panoramic circular walkway with views across the Alpstein mountains, the Rhine Valley. One of its distinctive attractions is the revolving panoramic restaurant, which slowly rotates while you dine, allowing you to enjoy the changing mountain scenery from your table.
Unfortunately, it was very foggy when we first arrived, so we decided to have lunch at the restaurant, which was completely packed. The sliced veal dish seemed to be a very popular choice. Thankfully, the fog eventually cleared and we were able to walk around the summit and take some lovely photos.
Would I recommend Hoher Kasten? Yes, especially if you only have half a day and want to enjoy beautiful mountain views without spending too much time hiking. It is an easy and convenient way to experience the scenery of the Appenzell Alps.
