Beware Caerhays (Porthluney) beach - parking sharks

点评：I have visited the beach at Caerhays many times , it is absolutely DELIGHTFUL
However, be warned of sharks !
Not those swimming in the sea, but the agents employed by the owners to run their parking facilities (namely Initial Parking, registered in Birmingham)
I bought my ticket the other day, for 3 hours , but inadvertently overstayed my welcome, doubtless enjoying and feeding my young grandchildren at the Café, far too much.
The parking fine arrived, telling me I had not bought a ticket (I had).
Upon appeal, they actually looked at their systems , and informed me that I had overstayed by 20 minutes and 55 seconds (very precise modern technologies),
and that I now owed them £60 for the privilege (or £100 if I did not rapidly comply).
Very fairly , they suggested that I could appeal further, but by default , were I to loose a 2nd appeal, the cost would be £100 in any case.
So BEWARE TRAVELLER, as similar oversights will cost you dear (at least £2.85 per minute by my reckoning ! )
You could always try the “might as well get hung for a sheep as a lamb…” approach.
However I suspect, given their attitude, that they may take you up on it.
Still, I can only assume the owners of the Caerhays estate, are happy (?) with the way their agents work, having employed them.
