Great tour, fun to stay at Balter House

We took the 4 house tour on Sept. 22, 2026. The tour (about 2 hours) was great. The mini bus took us from the restaurant to the four houses. The guide did a very good job discussing the houses and Polymath in general. It was well worth doing.
Stay Balter House
We then spent 2 nights (Tuesday/ Wed.) at the Balter House which was awesome. The home was comfortable to stay in but not without it's quirks. There are no shades so when the sun is up, so are you. The bathrooms are small by current standards but functional. There are limits on the heating and cooling that in very hot or cold weather could make it uncomfortable. There is no internet or TV but cell service was fine. The water pressure was OK, a bit weak if both showers were going at the same time.
The master bedroom was perfect, it felt like you were waking up in a forest.
The larger guest room was also very nice to stay in.
There are 2 smaller bedroom as well.
You should review the rules (on the website, explained when checking in and in the house) prior to booking and upon arrival.
The road to the houses is gated, as is the general entry road after hours, but you are given the code and operating instructions upon check in.
Notes:
There are no tours on Wed., on other days you'll need need to accommodate the tours during your stay.
There are specific parking instructions per house
The Treetops rest. is closed Tuesdays and Wed., the nearest restaurant is Tap It brewery in Ames (which had very good food)
If you are a FLW fan you'll love the tour and staying in one of the houses.

主卧室堪称完美，仿佛是在森林中醒来一般。较大的客房同样非常适合居住。此外还有两间较小的卧室。您应在预订前及抵达后仔细阅读相关规则（这些规则公布在网站上，办理入住时也会予以说明，且也张贴在房子里）。
通往各栋房屋的道路设有门禁，非开放时段主入口道路同样如此；不过办理入住时，我们会为您提供密码及使用说明。
注意事项：
周三不安排导览活动；其他日期您则需自行安排时间参与导览。
每栋房屋均有特定的停车规定。
Treetops休息室每周二和周三闭馆。最近的餐厅就是艾姆斯的Tap It酿酒厂（那里的食物非常美味）。
如果你是FLW的粉丝，你一定会喜欢这次游览，还能住在那里的房子里。
