点评:This was my second visit to Doagh Famine Village, and it really is a great place to go. It is very well laid out, very educational, but also entertaining. I was especially struck by how balanced and thoughtful the story of the Irish famine was.
I found it particularly interesting to see the Orange Order represented there and to learn more about the context in which it was present. That added something important to the visit.
Our tour guide, Pat, was knowledgeable and entertaining, and made the whole experience even better. I would especially like to mention Majella, who was so warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Her friendliness and kindness really added to the whole experience, and she made sure we left with the same sense of welcome with which we had been received.
The gift shop is also excellent, with some lovely, good-quality souvenirs at very reasonable prices.
I would highly recommend a visit.
