爱尔兰国家博物馆 - 乡村生活的点评
点评：We visited as a group of 3 and had such a fantastic experience here, honestly, what a hidden gem in County Mayo! 🇮🇪✨
Admission: FREE entry for everyone — no ticket cost at all! It’s incredible value and such a wonderful public resource . Free parking on-site too, which is brilliant.
The museum itself is fascinating — four floors of beautifully curated exhibits bringing rural Irish history to life from 1850–1950. You’ll see traditional crafts, farming tools, clothing, furniture, and even film footage of people at work — it really gives you such a deep appreciation for how life was lived in Ireland before . The displays are thoughtful, informative, and wonderfully presented.
Then there’s Turlough Park House — the stunning neo-Gothic Victorian mansion right beside the museum — and the beautiful grounds with a lake, gardens, woodland walks, and even a playground. We strolled around after our visit and it was so peaceful and picturesque.
The café in the courtyard was lovely — great food, friendly staff — and there’s a nice gift shop too. Everything is well laid out, fully accessible, and the staff we met were so welcoming and helpful.
We spent a good couple of hours there and could easily have stayed longer. It’s such a special place — rich in history, beautiful setting, and completely free to visit. If you’re near Castlebar, do not miss it — highly recommended! 🌟
