Serious safety shortcomings during the trek

点评：Our experience with SAM Travel Peru was very negative, particularly because of several fundamental safety issues.
During the trek, it was just my husband, myself and the guide. The rest of the team stayed at the camps waiting for us and did not accompany us along the route.
We had been told that an emergency horse would be available, but the horse remained at the camp and did not follow us during the trek. Therefore, in the event of illness or physical difficulty along the way, we would not have been able to use it.
The oxygen cylinder was also only available at the camp and was not carried during the hike—precisely when it might have been needed most, considering that we were trekking at altitudes ranging from approximately 4,400 to 4,900 metres.
Furthermore, we were not provided with drinking water during the trek. Staying properly hydrated is essential at these altitudes, and we consider it very serious that an adequate supply of water was not ensured along the route.
For such a demanding, high-altitude trek, we expected the organisation to be far more attentive, present and responsible, especially regarding safety. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this agency.
