点评:We spent three nights in the Frenchman Valley Campground in West Block in mid May. The entrance to the park is near the town of Val Marie. You leave the highway and drive for about 22 km on gravel/dirt roads to get to the campground. The campground is small, just 20 spots or so, and the sites have electricity. Keep in mind that there are no showers here, just two pit toilets style bathroom facilities. The campground is one big circle and there are no trees. We were in 17, but I would describe all the sites as fairly similar. There is no fresh water available, but there is a sani dump station on the way out of the park. There is a kitchen area available for campers, which we did not use. We were fortunate to catch the Friday fireside chat, hosted by a park ranger, who explained a lot about the history of the park, as well as some of the flora and fauna you might expect to see. The beauty of this park lies in the vastness of the place, the quiet combined with the choir of birds, the small flowers and plants, the abundance of animal life and the big open sky. It was quite cold when we were there but we still enjoyed ourselves even though we experienced wind and rain and even a tiny snow flurry. Would definitely return, and would also like to try the East Block area too.
