Despicable Consideration of Disabled Access.

点评：I have an obvious physical disability that limits my movement so enquired whether there was a concessionary price, but was told there wasn't so had to pay full price, despite the castle containing many stairs, many of which I was unable to climb. It is not just this property, but I have found the NT's attitude towards ED&I when it comes to disability to be reprehensible. How is there no concessionary price when there is a flight of steps just to enter the castle, and the accessible pathways correspond to just a few % of the total pathways? All other non-NT places I tend to visit offer fair prices for disabled people. It is a disgrace. The cafe was disappointing too - the menu was very limited and expensive for what you got. I had a ham sandwich which was overpriced and rather tasteless, although the cake I had was quite nice. I had wanted something hot but didn't fancy the few cooked items on the menu. I was able to access a small part of the castle, which wasn't as I remembered it (I've been visiting here over the course of many years) - there were fewer rooms to see with less in them I thought. The gardens (including Kitchen Garden) were also rather disappointing - they've never been the most extensive of gardens but there seemed to be a lack of plants and flowers or much interest at all in them. There is a nice covered seating area, but 3 steps to get in (given this is a comparitively recently build, why they couldn't make this area accessible is beyond me)! Overall, an extremely disappointing visit and it'll be a while before I think of returning. The friends I was with were visiting for the first time and were underwhelmed.
