POAS drive on your own? ....Highly Recommend!

点评：If you have ever wondered if you can drive to Poas Volcano on your own???? YES YOU CAN! My wife and two adult sons love to explore but not big fans of long day trips in shuttle busses driving up long and winding roads. Also not big fans of starting a group tour at 6am to see the sites before the clouds roll in... sorry that is NOT our vacation vibe....that said we decided to drive ourselves and it was definitely worth it!!
Booked our POAS tickets on line the day before (required or you can not enter the park) Not too difficult but it took me a couple of tries on the SINAC web site to add all our passport info etc but booked 10am park entry tickets.
We left our Escazu hotel at 8:30 (very civilized time) and arrive at 10am exactly. Road was good and definitely recommend taking ginger if anyone in your party gets motion sick. The Part entrance process was easy, parking attendants were very friendly and the main base area had clean bathrooms and was well laid out. Hike to the crater was maybe 15 minutes and we were lucky enough to see clouds roll in and out to give us a magical and rapidly changing view of the crater. Truly amazing!!
We took the additional hike to see the lake and had similar stunning views and a great walk through the jungle. Trail is a good workout but well maintained and a great way to experience an easy jungle hike. Total outing took about 1.5 hours max and we returned to the gift shop and restaurant for some quick bites. Highly recommend and definitely an easy outing to do on your own.
Great way to start your day and if the GODS smile upon you, the views are worth the journey!! Pura Vida!

我们还徒步前往了湖泊，欣赏到了同样令人惊叹的美景，并在丛林中漫步，感觉非常棒。这条步道虽然强度适中，但维护得很好，是体验轻松丛林徒步的绝佳方式。全程大约耗时1.5小时，之后我们返回礼品店和餐厅吃了点东西。强烈推荐，绝对是独自一人也能轻松完成的行程。
这是开启美好一天的绝佳方式，如果运气好的话，沿途的景色绝对值得你跋涉！纯粹生活！
