点评:We weren't planning on visiting the castle originally, but having seen it from the town, we were inclined to take a look. Thankfully the local shop where we stopped to get some ice-creams had some 25% off admission vouchers that we picked up, thus reducing the entry fee a little.
The climb up to the castle is tough, but there are lots of benches along the route, so we made friends with other visitors as we laughed at ourselves and our fitness levels en route to the top. Once you are at the top though, the views are incredible, and the ruins themselves are fascinating to explore. We particularly enjoyed going into the keep and then down into the store room!
We spent an hour in all (including 20 minutes to get up to the top!) but you could spend longer if you fancied hanging around more in the ruins. The visitor centre had lots of information that we enjoyed reading about the history and there was also a volunteer at the top who was able to answer any questions. It was rather quiet, with only a few other couples / groups there when we arrived at the top, however we had just missed a large school group, so I imagine it could feel a lot busier at times!
