Charming pub, absent management, one lady doing the work of five

点评：I had hoped for better.
Having recently moved to the area, I thought I'd found a charming local in The Keelman, at first glance- an attractive establishment, a pleasant atmosphere and a genuinely warm welcome from the lady behind the bar (I estimate in her early 40s, wears glasses) who appeared to be holding the place together through sheer willpower.
The beer, to beer fair, was perfectly decent, I'm told its brewed in the same building.
However any initial goodwill quickly evaporated once the pub began to fill, it became abundantly clear that this same woman was expected to do quite literally everything - run the bar, take food orders, serve food, clear tables, and maintain some semblance of order both inside and out. One can only admire here compose, but the situation itself is frankly absurd.
Conversations with other patrons confirmed what was already obvious; management appear to be conspicuously absent, yet entirely content to leave a single member of staff to shoulder the burden. Its not just poor form - it borders on negligence.
The food looked passable at best, portions were noticeably modest, which felt rather mean spirited, given the setting.
As for the pub itself, while superficially appealing, it doesn't bear close inspection particularly well. What initially reads as 'freshly done' rather quickly reveals itself to be in need of a thorough, proper clean.
In short, there is a decent pub in here somewhere, but it is being undermined by baffling poor management decisions. The member of staff present deserves considerable credit - and frankly, far better.
One leaves with the distinct impression that the people in charge might consider actually turning up and getting their fingers out. 5 stars for the poor lady doing everything. Zero stars for the management.
