点评：Visited the newly opened E&C on a sunny Monday afternoon and sat in the garden for a pub lunch. The staff were very welcoming and attentive (clearly have been trained in good customer service). Whilst the pub has been thoroghly refreshed (nicely upgraded toilets, new tables indoors and out, well-cared for garden) it thankfully retains its lovely old-worlde character. There were good choices on the menu, the prices were ok (no such thing as a cheap pub lunch these days) and the food was nicely presented. My only complaint is that I had the cheese and ham Ploughman's and asked to have the ham replaced with more cheese as I am a vegetarian. That didn't happen; I was just given the Ploughman's minus the ham. The cheese was nice and there was plenty on the plate anyway so I didn't mention it but it would have been a nice touch to have had either the price reduced slightly or an additional item. I appreciate that the pub was not obliged to change the dish but I am finding that it is getting harder to eat out as a vegetarian than in the past, with less choice on the menu or an insistence (not at the E&C but elsewhere) that I have vegan food instead. Aside from this minor issue, the visit was good and would have no hesitation in recommending.
