Disappointing Approach to Bird Control in Toodyay

点评：I visited Toodyay today and was extremely disappointed by what I saw around the whole shopping centre area, not just the IGA. There were spikes and wire netting installed across buildings to stop birds from nesting or sitting.
While I understand the need to keep public areas clean, the approach felt very harsh and unnecessary. I also saw a bird that appeared to be dead caught in the wire, which was upsetting to witness.
What made it worse was seeing children nearby who were visibly upset and crying after seeing it.
This was extremely disappointing for a place that has a “hippy” feel we left feeling anything but. I would expect more care and compassion in a town like this.
I think the wiring and deterrents should be removed and replaced with a more humane approach that doesn’t harm wildlife or cause distress to people visiting the area.
