Underwhelming experience
老政府大楼的点评
点评：I first visited Old Government House during a day trip to Parramatta. Considering the building's historical importance, I found the experience quite underwhelming. However, I decided to return with my family because my grandson loves Australian history and I thought he would enjoy seeing such an important historic site.
Unfortunately, our second visit got off to a bad start, with staff arguing over the need to see our senior cards (something I wasn't asked for on my first visit) and then questioning the legitimacy of a family ticket. I also think the admission prices are quite high for what is actually on offer.
Once inside, we were welcomed by a volunteer who told us to be careful not to touch anything and advised us to read the A4 information sheets provided in each room. There really isn't a great deal to see, and I think the experience could be made so much more engaging by having volunteers or guides stationed throughout the building who could simply chat with visitors and answer questions, without everyone having to join a formal guided tour. Instead, the volunteers seemed to congregate around the entrance, chatting among themselves.
I asked my grandson afterwards what he thought, and interestingly, one of the things that struck him most was the number of cracks he noticed in the ceilings and walls. It certainly made me wonder about the condition and ongoing maintenance of such an important historic building.
For a National Trust property of considerable significance to Australian history, I found the whole experience disappointing. There is enormous potential here to make Australian history come alive, particularly for younger visitors like my grandson, but unfortunately that wasn't our experience. I don't plan on visiting again, and after two visits, my experiences have perhaps clarified why there seem to be so few visitors.

事后我问我的孙子有何感想，有趣的是……最让他印象深刻的是天花板和墙壁上出现的大量裂缝。这不禁让我对这样一座具有重要历史意义的建筑的现状及日常维护状况产生了疑问。
作为一处对澳大利亚历史具有重大意义的国家信托遗产，这次参观体验却让我颇为失望。这里其实有巨大的潜力可以用来生动地展现澳大利亚的历史，尤其是对我这样的孙辈来说，更能激发他们的兴趣。但遗憾的是，我们的体验并非如此。我不打算再去了；经过两次到访后，我大概明白了为何这里的游客如此稀少。
