Ancient Indian Mounds
Hopewell Culture National Historical Park的点评
点评：This National Historic Park is spread over many miles of Southern Ohio. The mounds were built between 2,000 and 1,500 years ago. Not much is known about the people who built them but the mounds are built in uniform shapes and sizes even though they are many miles apart, and archaeologists have found items at the site from all over North America, indicating a huge trade network.
Most of the visible mounds are at the City Mounds Group where the visitors center is. The visitors center is small and had few artifacts. There are four other NPS (and several state sites) that are part of the Park, but there’s little at any of these that can be seen from ground level other than at the Seinfeld Earthworks miles down the road. If you walk around the City Mounds Group, you don’t need to try to drive around to all the others. You won’t miss much.
