圣莱奥德伽尔教堂的点评
点评：St. Leodegar (Hofkirche) is the landmark Roman Catholic church located St. Leodegarstrasse. The churches history dates back to 735 AD while the building you see today was constructed between 1633-39 to replace the prior Gothic church destroyed during the fire of 1633. Opening times for visitation are 7am to 7pm daily.
What you find is a charming exterior highlighted by 69-metre tall twin towers. The facade around the entrance is a nice touch of the Renaissance. Look for the statue of Saint Beatus fighting a dragon fitted into a niche above the entrance and below the Rose Window. There is a walled in cemetery that surrounds the main body of the church as well.
The interior features a Gothic configuration with tall and narrow nave with ribbed vaulted ceiling. You'll find elaborate statues, wooden pulpit and carvings and ornate and heavily gilded altars. There is an impressive black marble high altar but it behind a decorative gate so you can only view from a bit of a distance. The organ is a notable point of interest within the church as well.
On the whole, we quite enjoyed our walk through of St. Leodegar Church. It is a nice place to visit if you are in this part of Lucerne and enjoy seeing historic churches during your travels.
