点评:I wonder why it took so long to build this simple but respectful white marble mausoleum. Muhammad Ali Jinnah also refered to as Quaid-e-Azam (the Great Leader) died in 1948. His tomb was inaugurated in 1971 and the surrounding gardens only in 2000. I understood there were many different designs that were eventually rejected, the latest one by Fatima, the sister of Jinnah. Anyway the tomb is located on an elevation with terraces at the northside of central Karachi. The gardens are quiet and form a kind of buffer between the bustling city and the mausoleum.
There is also a small museum with personal items that give you an idea of what kind of man Jinnah was. A rather British barrister who took great care of his clothes and appreciated comfort. Remarkable he liked big American cars (note the Cadillac).
Entrance fee 40 PKR (foreigners) an additional 30 PKR to visit the museum
Google Maps marked the entrance on the wrong (northern) side. It is southwest of the park area.
