点评:We weren't sure about the cellar visit, because the tours are only in German and although I speak German, my wife doesn't. Even though audio guides are available, it's never the same. In the end we thought that we couldn't stay in Retz without seeing the famous cellars. I have to say that overall it's a good experience, but whilst I'm a big fan of information, this seemed to tend towards overkill. There isn't that much to see, really, you don't walk that far, and I think words are meant to make up for sights.
The guide also mentioned that he'd had a party of Germans earlier that day and they'd struggled with his accent, and asked if we were all ok. I said (in German) that I was English and asked him to bear that in mind, but to be honest, he didn't seem to make any allowances. I've lived in Austria and am a linguist and at times I was struggling to maintain my attention and interest for 90 minutes as a result. He was certainly entertaining and engaging, though.
