点评:I arrived early and was warmly greeted and given the option of waiting on the sofa or taking a stroll around the garden full of art work. I had a pleasant walk around the garden and took in the view from the treehouse. There are plaques explaining each piece in English. Ruinart has a big focus on contemporary art.
Our tour guide, Leo, introduced himself and Ruinart before he took us (around 12 in our group) into the cellars. He'd already gauged the experience of the people on the tour, hence we only got a brief review of the wine making process with the aid of a convenient piece of functional art that shows the process. We went for a stroll in the cellars, there's a noticeable temperature gradient as you walk down the second set of stairs! The cellars are impressive, both the vast collection of bottles and the art tucked away inside them is impressive, and you get to find out how these caves were originally made.
It's one of the more expensive tours (90 EUR) but a high quality one. You get to taste some expensive wines with decent pours. The tasting room is very nice with comfy seating. I pondered buying a few bottles afterwards whilst chatting with some others from the tour and decided against it. See my other Reims/Epernay/Ay tour reviews for comparison.
