点评:After the 1 hr. walk from Monte de Gozo I arrive here for the picture you must and have been waiting to take.
This Cathedral deserves its UNESCO designation. Its absolutely stunning.
I had some amazing surprises, like the mass I attended,
I got a chance to see the Botafumerio (incense burner - 100 kg/ 220 lbs) swing from side to side with 8 lower priests or assistance - Tiraboleiros- pulling this rope to get the burner to swing.
I believe my mass was presided over by a Cardinal Bishop. At least that is what I thought he was, he had a red cap on, and then on top of that was this white pointy hat, that sat on top, I think it was Archbishop Francisco José Prieto Fernández, and he was attended by this other person - Miter and Crozier Bearers- who kept handing him a staff, and taking the staff away, etc.
There is attached to the cathedral a museum, which has some interesting artifacts in it. I believe some people miss this.
But the icing on the cake is seeing the believe to be tomb of Saint James. And I participated in is a centuries-old ritual known as the Abrazo del Apóstol (The Embrace of the Apostle)
