点评：We stayed in Hetta for a couple of days in the quiet season (summer!) and couldn't resist the opportunity to do something dog-related since we had to leave our own dog at home. I had read about Hetta Huskies being more ethically run than other commercial husky ventures so that was the clincher. We booked a farm tour and a long hike with a guide and a couple of dogs. Getting hold of them can be a little difficult, but once you see the amount of work that goes in to looking after the dogs it is understandable that the phones and email go unmanned for long periods!
The owner gave us a lift from our hotel in the village, and a lovely guide gave us a tour of the farm. She was very knowledgeable and gave us a very detailed run down of all the procedures involved in the daily running of the farm. We got to see how the dogs in various stages of training live, including the retired dogs and the dogs recovering from illness. They are all very well taken care of. Then we went for 2 hikes - one in the morning with 2 retired sled dogs and another shorter one later on with 2 young dogs. Both were great, the dogs and us had a great time and the guides were brilliant company and happy to answer all of our silly questions! The lovely owner even doused us in industrial-strength mosquito spray first which was greatly appreciated as the stuff we brought with us wasn't doing the job 😬 I can't believe so many people overlook visiting at this time of year, it was such a lovely personal visit and we spent some real quality time with the dogs. The highlight of our trip!
