点评:This is a monumental construction. As has been said read up on this memorial before you visit as there is very little information inside (a little in Spanish and surprisingly English at some elements).
Entry waseasy and polite. However we entered as a service was starting. This was an experience and will stick with me for a long time. The acoustics of the "tunnel" were spectacular. All visitors were held back away from the service. On completion we were allowed to move forward to around the altar. All the priests/monks (?) had departed to the left towards the monastry.
I am glad I made the detour to this place and it is immense in size. You can see it from way down the valley but nothing prepares you for the sheer size of it. The positioning at the top of a valley looking towards Madrid is spectacular (on a clear day).
Also of note is how little (none) maintenance is carried out but that may be a political decision.
One point that we noted - on a sunny day at no time did we see the sun light up the huge cross - spooky!
