The gardens and grounds are a good place to walk the dogs and enjoy a fantastic pinetum.

点评：The grounds (not the Palace ).
Dogs are not allowed in the Palace but they are allowed in the cafe and shop, and the grounds (on leads - there is a free running dog paddock).
The grounds includes a replica of "the Stone of Scone" and a lovely little chapel as well as a huge walled garden. This garden is being developed and its lack of finish is why I have only gone 4 stars, but the bits they have done include rose beds by David Austen and other interesting planting ( particularly the irises), which are beautiful. The rose beds would be best in July.
The majority of the grounds are taken up with a fabulous pinetum with established and new plantings. Bad backs and knees prevented us from exploring these fully , and the maze, but it was a great walk.
Other mini highlights were the graveyard and Pavillion.
The toilets at the cafe were considerably better than those in the grounds.
