A very unusual house with very pleasant gardens, nice views and a smashing tea room
Plas Newydd House Museum and Tearooms的点评
点评:My husband and myself spent a very pleasant morning walking around the grounds which are free to enter and then paid £9 each to go inside the house. It is certainly very unique and definitely worth a visit to learn more about the Ladies of Llangollen and to see all the skilled woodworking that was undertaken as they redeveloped their house into a home. We too, as mentioned in an earlier review, preferred their audio guide which is the size of a small remote control (it can be switched to English or Welsh for commentary) as it was so much easier to use than a head set. There are also information boards up in each room by articles that are on view if you do not want to take an audio guide. The stairs are quite steep which may be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. The staff at the entrance were all very knowledgeable about the house and it's history and were happy to answer questions. The scaffolding does spoil the view if you are specifically going there to take photos of the outside however there is a warning on the website about this so you could wait and plan your visit for when the work has been completed or just buy a postcard. The toilets were immaculate and there is a small tearoom where you can sit inside or outside under sun umbrellas, these were accessible for wheelchair users. We ordered the soup of the day which was leek and potato and came with a bread roll and then had a scone each, all home made and they were delicious. The tearoom staff were very pleasant and the tables were cleared promptly when customers left. They do offer gluten free food options and the cakes were stored to avoid cross contamination. I would have expected to pay an awful lot more to go there if this had been a National Trust Property but it is Council owned and good value for money. We really enjoyed our visit, made even better by the nice weather and as we arrived as they opened we had no trouble getting a space in their small car park.
