West window dangers
Thor's Cave的点评
点评：Me and my boyfriend decided to go on a hike to thors cave from wetton. We had parked in wetton for free near the toilets. We then started to walk towards thors cave following the signs, we had a look from the viewpoint above the cave which was amazing, we then decided to head towards the cave and explore it. I then spotted an opening on the right side of the cave that looked welcoming (i now know this as the west window) and of some sort of path past the rocks. We started to climb down the rocks towards what looked like a path ( we thought it was used frequently because of the litter around it) we then descended down the rocks which was tricky as it was very wet and muddy, we had to hold onto the branches of a tree sticking out to help us down. We then saw a path that looked okay to go down, this is when we got to a tree with a rope attached my boyfriend went down first and told me it wasn’t looking too steep after this part, i was crying and panicking as im not into climbing and heights etc. so he was trying to calm me, i then descended down myself with the rope slipping as i went down. We safely got to a flatter but slippy area ( not large enough for two people) and my boyfriend then decided it was too wet and slippy for us to go down any further which i then got upset and cried more, i began climbing back up the slippy and muddy rocks towards the cave again. We thankfully got back up safely and warned people around us in the cave to not go through this “exit”.
This is extremely unsafe especially in the wet weather, i think there should be a sign to say it is too dangerous to go down as it can cause injuries and most certainly deaths. I worry that children looking for an adventure will try to climb down this area and seriously hurt themselves. Not sure why a sign hasn’t been thought of yet as it’s really unsafe. It should be common knowledge everyone knows to not go down the west window because of the dangers it entails. Thinking about making my own sign at this point.
Other than that the cave was gorgeous and had amazing views. It’s obviously our fault we went down this dangerous way and take full accountability however, it should be sign posted to say something like “go down at own risk or do not enter”.

翻译：我和男朋友决定从韦顿出发，徒步前往索尔洞。我们把车停在韦顿的厕所附近，那里可以免费停车。随后我们沿着指示牌向索尔洞进发。我们在洞穴上方的观景台俯瞰四周，景色真是美不胜收。接着我们决定下到洞内一探究竟。这时我注意到洞穴右侧有个开口，看起来很诱人（现在我才知道那叫“西窗”），而且似乎还有一条路可以穿过岩石区。我们开始沿着岩石向下攀爬，试图找到一条看似是小径的路（鉴于周围有不少垃圾，我们以为这条路经常有人走）。接着我们继续从岩石上往下走，但由于地面湿滑又泥泞，这个过程相当棘手；我们不得不抓住伸出来的树枝来辅助下行。后来我们看到了一条看起来可以通行的路径，就沿着它继续下走。到了那儿，我们看见一棵树上系着一根绳子，我的男朋友便先沿着绳子下去了。他告诉我，过了这个地方之后坡度就不会太陡了。我当时又哭又慌，因为我根本不喜欢攀岩，也怕高。他试图安慰我，随后我自己顺着绳索往下爬，但绳子一直打滑。我们安全抵达了一块相对平坦但很滑的区域（地方小到只能容纳一个人）。这时我的男朋友觉得地面湿滑得根本无法继续下行，这让我更加难过，哭得更厉害了。于是我又开始沿着那些湿滑又泥泞的岩石往回爬，朝洞穴的方向去。我们幸运地安全返回，并提醒洞穴周围的众人切勿从这个“出口”下去。
这种情况极其危险，尤其是在潮湿的天气里。我认为应该设置一个警示牌，说明此处过于危险，下去极易受伤甚至丧命。我担心那些寻求刺激的孩子们会试图从这里爬下去，从而身受重伤。真不明白为何到现在都还没设置警示牌，毕竟这里实在是太不安全了。大家理应都知道，由于存在诸多危险，绝不可从西侧的窗口下去。目前我正打算自己做一个警示牌呢。
除此之外，那个洞穴美不胜收，景色也极为迷人。我们选择了这条危险的路线进入，这显然是我们的过错，我们愿意承担全部责任。不过，那里理应设置一些警示牌，上面写着类似“后果自负，请勿进入”之类的提示。
