点评:I have just done the Newcastle to Amsterdam minicruise with a friend, 4 teenagers and a 6 year old. We loved our trip and the ferry was the best bit. The rooms were more spacious than we expected and very clean. The 6 year old loved it that much, she kept asking to go back to the room.
There was an onboard shop, quite expensive but plenty of choice. There was a small Starbucks that sold cakes and drinks, no savoury food. There was a bistro restaurant and a buffet. We thought 30 euro for any child over 12 was too expensive so we never ate dinner there. We told our own food, which was more affordable. If children up to 16 years paid child price, we would have ate in the buffet. We did have breakfast on the way out, which had plenty of choice and was tasty.
There was a kids treasure hunt on an evening with prizes and colouring competition. We loved listening to the eco talk about the sea life in the are. We spent time on the observation deck and in the observation room. This had jigsaws, colouring and games for kids too. We even got to see several seals at the side of the ship. The kids loved their time onboard. The sky bar was lovely in the sun with a guitar player and singer.
On an evening there was a band and bingo. We loved bingo and won 100euro in vouchers. Drinks were reasonably priced & there were plenty of security in the club area. We felt safe taking our kids there, the security and all staff were very friendly. The kids also loved their arcade area, small but okay.
The only downside was the passport security in Holland. Very slow with long queues, so we didn’t get into Amsterdam until 1130am, so only got 4 hours there. But we would still travel again on this route. The ship felt very family friendly and we slept great, the beds were so comfortable. I live only 30 minutes from the P&O ferry in Hull. But this DFDS ship is so much cleaner, more modern and so much more family friendly. I would rather drive 2 1/2 hours to do this minicruise instead . I would definitely recommend, even with kids.
