点评：Planned to visit NGV for the Cartier Exhibition before it closed but then discovered that a Margaret Preston exhibition was opening at the NGV in Federation Square.
Flew down from Sydney and decided to see Margaret Preston before checking into my hotel. The NGV Ian Potter Centre cloakroom was able to hold my small suitcase for me whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the extensive MP exhibition. Not only was the exhibition bigger than expected, it covered her contentious cultural appropriation of Aboriginal art that I was unaware of. The highlight was the beautiful large scale still artworks of Australian flora in vases painted at her Berowra NSW home for the 1939 New York World Fair. After spending 1 1/2 hrs at the exhibit, I had a breather at the NGV cafe - a very nice Chai and a slice of ‘Margaret Preston inspired spice cake’ before heading back into the gallery to explore the free exhibits. A very pleasant way to spend the afternoon. And the staff had no problem changing the time of my pre-booked and paid ticket as I arrived an hour earlier than I expected.
