成都大熊猫繁育研究基地的点评
点评：I visited twice, first time entered through the South Gate after 9 am, the area was packed with tour groups. When the temperature gets over 26C they move the Pandas into their cooled pavilions where they generally just sleep. It was 33C after 11am per the one temperature info board that I saw and all the Pandas were inside sleeping. Pandas generally eat and sleep and just move occasionally to get to more food.
The next day I returned but entered through the West gate (there are only the 2 entrances) soon after opening at 7:30, what a difference, hardly any other visitors, Pandas more active, even saw a young panda climbing a tree. Generally there are newer pavilions in the northern 2/3 of the panda base, was not until after 9 am that a few tour groups arrived.
It would seem that most tour groups arrive at the South Gate and leave by noon.
Food prices are higher than what you would pay outside the park. In the northern part of the park there is a relatively new center with several places to eat including McDonalds, KFC and Pizza Hut, but the prices at McD’s were significantly more than in the city (63.5 CNY vs 43.5 CNY for Angus Max with bacon meal for example).
Get there early as generally by noon the pandas are all sleeping.
