I want to warn other tourists about an experience we had in central Baku, near Fountain Square/Nizami Street.
Two men approached us in the street and started a very friendly conversation. They claimed to be from Dubai and told us about a supposedly amazing natural facial/skin treatment made with Turkish honey and several special herbal powders.
They first took us to a nearby SPAR supermarket to buy the honey. This made the whole story seem more genuine, as they were not selling us anything himself at that point.
Afterwards, he walked with us for about a minute to a small shop selling natural products, herbs and dried fruits. The shop has “NATURAL – HERBAL – DRY FRUITS – MEYVƏ” written on the glass and is close to Təbriz Xəlilbəyli Street (see pictures).
Inside, we were told we needed several powders, which were described to us with names sounding like “Hadban”, “Azgomba” and “Amberwet”. They then wanted approximately 350 AZN for the ingredients.
At that point we became suspicious and refused to buy anything. We paid nothing and left.
Afterwards, we found reports from other tourists describing a remarkably similar scheme in the Nizami Street/Fountain Square area: a friendly stranger recommends a special honey-based skin remedy, takes the tourist to buy honey and then leads them to a nearby herbal/spice shop where expensive ingredients are offered.
I cannot independently prove the relationship between the men whom approached us and the shop, so I am only describing exactly what happened to us. However, the similarity to previously reported experiences is striking.
My advice: if 2 strangers around Fountain Square or Nizami Street approaches you with a story about a natural facial treatment involving honey, saffron, herbs or special powders, do not follow them to shops and do not feel pressured to buy anything.
We were quoted 350 AZN and fortunately walked away without paying.
Posting this so other visitors know what to look out for.

后来，我们发现其他游客也报告了在尼扎米街/喷泉广场一带发生过的极为相似的骗局：有个面善的陌生人会推荐一种以蜂蜜为主要成分的护肤剂。他们会带游客去买蜂蜜，然后再领他们去附近的一家草药/香料店，在那里推销昂贵的原料。
我无法独立证实主动接近我们的那些人与那家店铺之间有何关联，所以我只是如实地描述发生在我们身上的事情。不过，这与之前报道过的经历极为相似。
我的建议是：如果有两个陌生人在喷泉广场或尼扎米街上，以需要用蜂蜜和藏红花进行天然面部护理为由接近你，那些人推荐的草药或特殊粉末，千万别跟着他们去商店，也别觉得有压力非得购买什么。
