If you know what's good for you – DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE.
It is a TOURIST TRAP.
We got up very early, around 5 o’clock in the morning, excited to see the famous Cai Rang Floating Market near Can Tho in Vietnam. According to every travel guide and blog, this is supposed to be one of the most authentic experiences in the Mekong Delta – small boats trading fruits and goods between locals on the river.
When we arrived, the disappointment was huge.
About 90% of the boats were full of tourists, not locals. Instead of a real floating market where people trade between boats, you are taken – like every other tourist – to a few floating stalls. They make you get off the boat so you can buy junk and souvenirs.
Things you can easily buy near your hotel without waking up before sunrise and paying money for a tourist tour.
Everybody comes expecting to see a real local floating market – small boats with local people selling whatever they have, trading with each other on the river.
Maybe it was like that many years ago.
Today they don’t trade with each other.
They trade with us.
The truth is simple: you and me are the product.
We are the ones waking up early, paying for the tour, floating between dozens of tourist boats, buying things we don’t need.
What used to be a real market has slowly turned into a staged attraction for visitors.
When you look around, you see boats full of tourists taking pictures… of other boats full of tourists doing exactly the same thing.
The famous floating market may still exist in name, but the authenticity is long gone.
What you get today is mostly a tourist experience that makes you want to vomit.

如今，你得到的，大多是令人作呕的旅游体验。
