点评：One of the three UNESCO world heritage sites in Nepal and considered to be one of the biggest and grandest among the three.
The square has beautiful Palaces and beautifully carved Temples and Royal courtyards, reflecting the extraordinary craftsmanship of the Newar community, which gives culturally vibrant experience.
It is a home to some most iconic Temples like ‘Nyatapola Temple’, a five storied pagoda, which is the tallest in Nepal, dedicated to Goddess Siddhi Lakshmi. Vatsala Temple, which is built in stone and dedicated to Goddess Durga and Dattatreya Temple, believed to be constructed from the wood of a single tree.
It is also known for its famous “Golden Gate” which is considered to be one the finest masterpiece of metal craftsmanship. This richly decorated entrance serves as the main gateway to the courtyard of “55-Windows Palace”. It also house “National Art Museum” which offers a fascinating glimpse into Nepal’s rich artistic and royal heritage.
On the backside of the square there is a “Pottery Square” where Newar artesian still practices centuries old traditions of Pottery and there are many local shops where you will find beautiful Newar Paintings created with natural colours and fine brushwork.
Around the square,there are lots of charming little cafés with wooden balconies and rooftop terraces. Sitting in one of these cafés and gazing at structures, that have stood for centuries allow you to pause, reflect and quietly absorb the soul of Bhaktapur.
Walking through the square feels like listening to centuries old stories carved into wood and stone. Should visit and give yourself sufficient time to absorb and feel the rich history of Nepal.
