Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum的点评
点评：I stopped by the Commonwealth Air Training Plan museum late in the afternoon, and I wish I'd gotten there earlier and had slightly more time before they closed!
Inside the museum part, there are loads of WW2 exhibits explaining that trainee pilots from all across the Commonwealth came to Brandon for training during the war, with the Barber's book being a great source of names of all people who passed through. Then, inside the hangar there are loads of brightly coloured planes, many of which have been restored, that were used for training the pilots before they were shipped off to Europe, as well as some 1940s trucks and cars. Also, there's a workshop space where the restoration of a plane is still on going, and you can see and talk to people working on the plane (very informative and engaging), and there's also a fascinating blackboard dating from the 1940s discovered bricked up behind some walls in a school. Outside there is a moving memorial to the airmen who lost their lives during WW2. I spent about 1.25hrs here before they turned off the lights for closing time - you'd need longer if you're really interested in aviation and military history.
